WireGuard VPN Fixed After Dream Machine Migration

When a piece of network hardware fails or gets outdated, replacing it should be the easy part. The hard part is making sure everything that depended on the old setup actually works the same (or better) once the new box is in place. That's exactly the situation one customer ran into after retiring an aging SonicWall in favor of a Ubiquiti Dream Machine.

The Problem

The customer had already done a fair amount of the legwork. The Dream Machine was in, WireGuard was configured, and remote connections were actually establishing. On paper, that's most of the battle. But once connected, the remote user had no internet access, and more importantly, couldn't map a drive to the file server. A VPN that connects but doesn't actually let you reach anything isn't much of a VPN.
