About Rogue Support

Why this exists, who's behind it, and how it works.

I Built This Because Nobody Else Would

Chris Sherwood, founder of Rogue Support

All right, so let me tell you how this started.

My name's Chris Sherwood. I run Crosstalk Solutions, a networking consulting business I've had for over a decade. I also run a YouTube channel where I teach people how to build, configure, and optimize their networks. Hundreds of videos, hundreds of thousands of subscribers, ten-plus years of doing this.

And the whole time, the number one comment I get is some version of this:

“Chris, this is great, but I don't want to do it myself. Can you just do it for me?”

For years my answer was basically “I'm sorry, I can't help everyone individually.” I'm one guy. I've got business clients. I can't personally remote into every viewer's network and set up their VLANs.

But that question never went away. And it makes sense. These are people who know enough to realize they need VLANs, or that their wireless coverage is bad. They just don't want to spend a weekend figuring out how to configure it themselves.

The Gap Nobody Was Filling

So here's what the landscape looked like:

Vendor support?

They'll help you with their own product. Maybe. But ask Ubiquiti to help you set up VLANs? “That's outside the scope of our support.”

Geek Squad?

Great if you need someone to plug in a printer. But real networking? VLANs, firewall rules, access point optimization? Not their wheelhouse. And they charge $150+ just to send someone out.

Local IT guy?

Maybe you find a good one. Maybe you find someone who watched a few YouTube videos. It's a coin flip. And you're limited to whoever happens to be in your area.

Enterprise IT consultants?

They'll do the work, but at $200-300/hour with minimums and contracts. Not realistic for a homeowner who just needs their VLAN setup done right.

That's the gap Rogue Support fills.

Uber for Networking. That's Literally What This Is.

I built Rogue Support on a simple idea: take the model that works for ride-sharing and apply it to networking expertise.

You've got a networking problem. You submit a ticket describing what's going on. You don't need to be technical about it. Your ticket goes out to our pool of vetted networking technicians. The ones who specialize in your type of issue review it and place bids. You see their bids, their ratings, their experience. And you pick the one you want.

Not the one we assign you. The one YOU choose.

Then your technician connects with you remotely, fixes the problem over screen share, and you're done. No contracts. No subscriptions. No service windows. Just expert networking help when you need it.

And if you find a tech you like? You can hire them directly next time. No need to submit another ticket and wait for bids. Just go to their profile and book them.

These Aren't Random People Off the Street

Every Rogue Support technician goes through a vetting process before they can take a single ticket. I'm not going to let just anyone remote into people's networks.

Background Check & Resume Review

Background checks on every technician. We look for real-world networking experience, not just certifications. People who've actually deployed networks and solved real problems.

Technical Assessment

Practical, scenario-based evaluation. Can you troubleshoot a VLAN misconfiguration? Can you explain what you're doing to a non-technical customer?

Ongoing Quality Control

Every ticket gets a customer rating. Technicians who don't maintain high standards don't stay on the platform.

The Crosstalk Solutions Connection

Crosstalk Solutions is the main business. Networking consulting, design, and deployment for business clients. Over ten years. Hundreds of deployments.

Rogue Support is the consumer side of that same expertise. Same knowledge base, same quality standards, same approach. Just packaged for home users and small businesses who need expert help without enterprise contracts.

The YouTube channel is where the knowledge gets shared. Reviews, tutorials, deployment guides. That channel is how most people find Rogue Support, and it's why our technician pool is filled with genuinely skilled people.

Why Remote-Only Is Actually Better

I know what you're thinking. “How can you fix my network if you're not in my house?” Fair question.

Almost everything is configuration

VLANs, firewalls, wireless settings, NAS. All done through admin interfaces that work perfectly over screen share.

Best tech, not closest tech

You get access to our entire nationwide pool. The best person for your specific problem might be three states away.

No travel costs or scheduling headaches

Nobody's driving to your house. No drive time baked into your bill, no "between 1 and 5 PM" windows.

Evening & weekend availability

Our techs are distributed across the country and work flexible hours. Need help at 7 PM on a Tuesday? We've got you.

You SEE everything happening

Screen share means you're watching the whole process. Ask questions in real time. Actually learn something.

No strangers in your home

Nobody shows up at your door. Your tech connects remotely, you watch the session on your screen, and they disconnect when it's done.

To be totally honest...

There ARE things we can't do remotely. We can't mount an access point to your ceiling. We can't run ethernet cable through your walls. If your issue is a hardware problem, we'll tell you upfront. But for configuration, optimization, troubleshooting, and design? Remote is the way to go.

This Is What I'd Want If I Needed Help

Pick my own expert. Pay a fair price for the time it actually takes. Get it done without scheduling a house call or signing a contract. That's Rogue Support.
