Most people who come to us have already done the research. They bought UniFi access points, a Synology NAS or a Starlink dish and got it mostly working. Then they hit the part the setup wizard doesn't cover: VLANs for the cameras, a VPN so they can reach home from the road, or Wi-Fi that still drops in the back bedroom.
That's the work Rogue Support technicians specialize in. They work with whatever mix of equipment you already have, including Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link, Synology, Peplink, pfSense, OPNsense and Starlink.
Most of our customers run UniFi, so our technicians spend a lot of their time in UniFi Network. That means adopting gateways, switches and access points, setting up VLANs and the zone-based firewall, putting Protect cameras on their own network, and getting remote access working with Teleport or WireGuard. If you have a UniFi system that's half set up, or a box of new gear you haven't plugged in yet, either one is a normal place to start.
Network Optimization
Your network works. It just is not fast. A technician can find out why, remotely.
VLANs & Firewalls
Want your cameras, smart home gear and work laptop on separate networks that actually stay separate?
Wireless Coverage
Dead spots in the back bedroom, the garage or the yard? That is usually fixable without buying more gear.
NAS Configuration
Got a Synology or other NAS you cannot reach, back up to, or share properly?
VPN & Remote Access
Need to reach your home network from anywhere without opening ports to the internet?
Long Range Wireless
Need a network link to a barn, shop or second building where trenching fiber is not realistic?
Network Design
Planning a new network, or a rebuild, and want a second opinion before you spend the money?
Anything in a home network that lives in software, a technician can do remotely. That covers router and firewall configuration, VLANs, Wi-Fi settings, adopting access points, NAS setup and VPNs.
What we can't do is be in the room. We can't run Ethernet through your walls or mount an access point on your ceiling, so if your project needs that, you'll want a local installer or electrician for the physical part. A good way to split a bigger project: a technician plans the network first (how many access points, where they go, which rooms need cable), the installer does the physical work, and then the technician configures everything.
If a problem turns out to be physical, like a bad cable or a dead switch port, your technician will tell you exactly what it is. They can walk you through simple fixes if you're comfortable doing them.
A lot of people would rather not have a technician walking through their house, and with remote help you don't have to. Your technician connects over screen share, so you see everything they do and can ask questions as they go. They only see what you share, and the connection ends when the session does. Every technician on the platform has passed a background check and been vetted on real networking work.
Already worked with a technician you liked? You can hire them directly from Browse Techs next time.
$120 an hour, billed in 6-minute increments and paid after the session. There's no minimum, so a 30-minute question costs $60, and most issues are resolved in 1-2 hours. For a bigger project, prepaid blocks bring the rate down to $108 or $96 an hour. Prepaid hours are valid for 12 months.
Segmenting a Full UniFi Home Network Into Secure VLANs
A homeowner with an extensive UniFi setup—including a UDM Pro, PoE switch, multiple access points, and a growing list of cameras and HomeKit-connected IoT devices—needed the network segmented for safety and performance. Scott configured separate VLANs for trusted devices, IoT, cameras, and guests, then applied firewall rules to isolate and protect each segment, giving the household a properly secured, well-organized network in just over an hour.
