When UniFi Firmware Gets Stuck: A Real-World Fix
Anyone who runs a UniFi network knows how important it is to stay current on firmware. Security patches, bug fixes, new features, it all rolls out through those updates. So when the customer in this case found their entire UniFi ecosystem frozen in place, it wasn't just an inconvenience. It was a real risk sitting on their network.
The Problem
The customer's UniFi Dream Machine Pro had stopped updating at UniFi OS version 1.12.38. That alone would be worth fixing, but the problem didn't stop there. UniFi Network was stuck at 7.2.97, UniFi Protect hadn't moved past 2.2.11, and UniFi Access was frozen at 1.7.6. Every major application tied to the UDM Pro had simply stopped receiving updates, leaving the whole system running on increasingly outdated firmware.
The customer did the right first step and reached out to UniFi support directly. But after a back-and-forth series of emails, the issue still wasn't resolved. As the customer put it in the original ticket, the lack of progress was "most likely" their "inability to understand what they have communicated."
